Special voice mail indicators

The BlackBerry® smartphone displays what appears to be an upside-down voice mail indicator on the left side of the screen. This icon can appear with 1 to 3 dots above the indicator.

These dots indicate that a special voice mail message was received on the BlackBerry smartphone. The dotted indicators are used to alert the BlackBerry smartphone user to different types of voice mail message alerts.

One dot represents a fax voice mail message. Two dots represents an email voice mail message. Three dots can represent other types of voice mail messages.

Since each wireless service provider has a different set of procedures for checking voice mail messages, contact your service provider for more information.

How to type an accent or special character on the BlackBerry smartphone

To add an accent or special character to a field, complete the following steps:

For BlackBerry smartphones with physical keyboards:

Hold the key for the character you want to add. Roll the trackball or trackpad left, right, up or down to select the character. Release the key when you have selected the character.

For touchscreen BlackBerry smartphones:

Hover over the character you wish to accent for a short time (without clicking on the key). A small screen will appear above the character allowing you to choose the accent you wish to use. Click the character with the desired accent or special character.
