Rapid Review: Prana by HedoneDesign

Ever since getting a new BlackBerry, I’ve realized that one of the things I like best is installing themes. Changing the look and layout is easy, fun, and allows the device to match the owner. (Now I want a way to keep all of my apps in order when I do switch). I’ve had a chance to be using Prana by HedoneDesign for a few days, and am really enjoying it.

At first, I wondered about the pinkish colors and softer hues. I’m more of a blue and orange guy, so I wasn’t sure how I would react. I shouldn’t have been worried. The colors are subtle, and look really nice together. The red pops, and it’s still easy enough to see the other icons around your current selection.

It works with a background as well, although you can’t see the entire thing behind the home screen. It isn’t a big deal, because I use the CrackBerry wallpaper changer anyway, so they don’t stick around all that often, and you can see the wall clearly on the lock screen.

One thing I really like is the Today section. It isn’t in your face, but is just off to the side, easily accessible when you need it. I always like to see what’s coming up on the schedule, so having that handy is a big plus. The Media, Favorites and Application icons are folders that contain additional apps within them. Very handy, and means you seldom have to leave the home screen.

This is one theme that could certainly remain on my BlackBerry for quite some time. It’s available for $6.99 for a variety of devices, and I am certain that you will not be disappointed with the purchase.

So what’s your favorite Hedone theme? This is my first on the 9650, but I had quite a few on the Storm, and this theme is certain to keep me going back for more.
