What is the new functionality for BlackBerry smartphones running on BlackBerry� Enterprise Server version 5.0

BlackBerry® Enterprise Server version 5.0 provides additional functionality to BlackBerry smartphones that were not available in previous versions of the BlackBerry Enterprise Server. The following is a list of new features for BlackBerry smartphones:

Note:  All of these features require BlackBerry Device Software 5.0.

Add, Remove, Rename Folders from the BlackBerry smartphone - To manage email folders on an email client using a BlackBerry smartphone that is associated with a BlackBerry Enterprise Server version 5.0 and running BlackBerry Device Software version 5.0. No further configuration is required to use this functionality.

Delegating and Forwarding Calendar Appointments  - To delegate (IBM® Lotus® Domino®) or forward (Microsoft® Exchange, Novell® GroupWise®) calendar appointments using a BlackBerry smartphone that is associated with a BlackBerry Enterprise Server version 5.0 and running BlackBerry Device Software version 5.0. No further configuration is required to use this functionality.

View Attachments in Meeting Requests - To view an attachment from within a meeting request on a BlackBerry smartphone that is associated with a BlackBerry Enterprise Server version 5.0 and running BlackBerry Device Software version 5.0. No further configuration is required to use this functionality.

Flag for Follow up - To flag an email message for follow up on a BlackBerry smartphone that is associated with a BlackBerry Enterprise Server version 5.0 and running BlackBerry Device Software version 5.0. No further configuration is required to use this functionality.

Remote File Exploring and Attachment - To view, save, and send attachments from a Server Message Block (SMB)/Windows network share on a BlackBerry smartphone that is associated with a BlackBerry Enterprise Server version 5.0 and running BlackBerry Device Software version 5.0. For information on configuring access to network file shares, see the Setting up access to documents on remote file systems section in the BlackBerry Enterprise Server 5.0 Administration Guide.

Synchronization of Contacts with Public or Shared and Private folders - To select multiple contact folders for synchronization on a BlackBerry smartphone that is associated with a BlackBerry Enterprise Server version 5.0 and running BlackBerry Device Software version 5.0. These folders must be configured from within BlackBerry® Web Desktop Manager version 5.0 or the BlackBerry Administration Service before they are available. For information, see the Synchronizing folders on the BlackBerry device section in the BlackBerry Enterprise Server 5.0 Administration Guide.

Synchronization of Personal Distribution Lists - To transfer personal distribution lists wirelessly on a BlackBerry smartphone that is associated with a BlackBerry Enterprise Server version 5.0 and running BlackBerry Device Software version 5.0.

Native Application Settings - Native application settings provide the capability to control or manage items previously not available via IT Policy such as email reconciliation and the keep messages or calendar items threshold for these native applications on the BlackBerry smartphone.
