Contact list on the BlackBerry smartphone does not synchronize wirelessly with Microsoft Outlook

The contact list on the BlackBerry® smartphone does not wirelessly synchronize with Microsoft® Outlook®.

The following causes can affect address book synchronization:

There is an incorrect version of MAPI32.dll on the BlackBerry Enterprise server. Wireless Synchronization is disabled even though it is set to Yes on the BlackBerry smartphone. The Address Book and Address Book - All databases are corrupt. The enterprise activation process has not completed the slow synchronization process.

To resolve the synchronization issue with the contact list, perform the following steps:

There is an incorrect version of MAPI32.dll file on the BlackBerry Enterprise Server.

Resolution 1

Make sure that the MAPI32.dll file on the BlackBerry Enterprise Server is the correct version. For information on MAPI32.dll versions, see KB02542. Verify the Microsoft Extensible Markup Language Parser (MSXML) is version 4.0 SP2.

Wireless Synchronization is disabled even though it is set to Yes on the BlackBerry smartphone.

Resolution 2

On the BlackBerry smartphone, select Contacts. Press the Menu key and click Options. Make sure that the Wireless Synchronization field is set to Yes. Change the Wireless Synchronization field to No. Press the Menu key and click Save. Go back into Options and set Wireless Synchronization back to Yes. Press the Menu key and click Save. Test synchronization by adding a contact to the contact list of the BlackBerry smartphone.

There is an issue with the Address Book and Address Book - All databases

Resolution 3

Clear the Address Book and Address Book - All databases from the BlackBerry smartphone.

Open BlackBerry Desktop Software Click Device>Backup Choose Full, then click Backup to make a full backup of the BlackBerry smartphone. To clear the Address Book, click Device>Delete Data Click the Selected data radio button Check off Address Book Check off Address Book - All Click Delete.

The enterprise activation process has not completed the slow synchronization process.

Resolution 4

Remove and restore the Desktop [SYNC] service book.

On the Home screen of the BlackBerry smartphone, click Options. Depending on the version of the BlackBerry® Device Software running on the BlackBerry smartphone, click either Service Book or Advanced Options > Service Book. Highlight the Desktop [SYNC] service book. Press the Menu key and click Delete. Confirm the deletion when prompted. Press the Menu key and click undelete

The wireless synchronization process begins again and runs in the background.
